My friend got this responsibility chart for my 3 year old daughter as her 7 year old insisted to get one for her, when she got one for herself. Very sweet of you S. Thankyou.

Responsibility Chart

My daughter seems a little too young to understand the goals that come with it. But the concept intrigues me. Even we adults can use it, me thinks.

Since we have a one year old at home, I was worried to leave the magnets lying around. Especially after the toy recall that happened about a year back involving magnets. This swiftly found its way into the to-be-used-later box. But, recently we took some of them out and this caught my eyes. It hit me that I can put the magnets aside and just use the chart and write with a marker. Or place stickers that match the chores appropriate for my daughters age.

The chart has one column for the goal, 7 columns against it for each day of the week. And a result column. Like a table. Here’s the goal I plan to start with.

Goals:
Lunch box swept clean.
Limit to Zero or one 30 minute slot of TV.
Ate veggies and fruits.
Remember to eat chewable vitamins.
Remember to take folder to school.
Atleast one good behavior for the day.

While at it, hit upon this site Myrewardboard.com/. Very neat idea for older kids. A nice way for kids to track their performance towards their goals. I am not sure I’ll pay to use the service, I am old school when it comes to these. I would prefer to have a chart that can be stuck on the back of the door such that the kids are forced to glance at it every now and then. And its right before their eyes instead of having to lookup in the computer.

Some good reads on this:
